Csaba Varga, Ph.D.
Principal Investigator
Csaba Varga studied neurobiology at the University of Szeged, Hungary. During his undergrad and graduate years he visited laboratories in Göttingen and Leipzig (Germany) where he gained a strong neuroanatomical background. During his first postdoctoral years he studied microcircuits in the neocortex under the guidance of Gabor Tamas. Later he joined the Soltesz lab at UCI, where he developed a technique with the help of which he started to investigate how different cell types fire during behaviorally relevant brain oscillations in awake mice. In 2014 he has been awarded by the Hungarian Brain Research Program and started his laboratory at the recently established Szentagothai Research Center at the University of Pécs, Hungary
